IN MEMORY OF
DR. ELLIS ANDRÉ

    It brings us great sorrow to share that Dr. Ellis André passed away on August 26, 2020, due to brain cancer. Dr. Andre was loved and highly respected by many people and will be missed. He played many roles as a pastor and professor in the CBWC denomination and Carey Theological College. We are forever grateful for his contributions as a board member, faculty member and co-DMin director at Carey. He will be most remembered for his caring and gentle heart, humility and wisdom. These qualities brought many people to see how the abundant life can be lived out on a daily basis and built into the lives of many pastors and other leaders who will carry his example of serving our Lord for the rest of their lives.

    We send our deepest condolences to his friends, family and loved ones as they grieve the passing of Dr. André.

    Below, we share a letter from Dr. André’s family;

    Dear Friends

    This morning, 26 August 2020, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Ellis, went to be with the Lord and Saviour he loved and served.

    We thank God for him. My dad was of gracious and strong stature, deeply rooted in faith and love for Jesus and His love for us. He was someone who grappled with tough subjects. Despite the aggressive brain cancer that made articulating his thoughts difficult, he continued to believe that God’s purposes prevail and are beyond our understanding. Less than a month ago he was sharing with a group of friends from the life of Job. This Scripture is one which speaks profoundly:

    Job 42

    1 Then Job replied to the Lord:
    2 “I know that you can do all things;
        no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
    3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
        Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
        things too wonderful for me to know.
    4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;
        I will question you,
        and you shall answer me.’
    5 My ears had heard of you
        but now my eyes have seen you.

    We are so grateful that the things about God of which Ellis heard and of which he spoke and marveled, he now sees and experiences fully.

    We will miss this wise, generous and humble man. We will miss his sense of humour and the way he lived in service of the Lord and others. My mom will miss her partner of 52 years of marriage. We will also remember and celebrate the massive impact he has had on us all.

    We have experienced God’s kindness and faithfulness in so many ways as we felt Him journeying with us in bringing my dad to his ultimate home. We are at peace and filled with deep gratitude to God for the countless expressions of His love. We would be grateful for your continuing prayers for us.

    In the days ahead we will provide details for a small in-person memorial service that will be made available online.

    With deep love and gratitude, and on behalf of Ruth, David and our families,

    Rozanne
